Day 1: Arrive to Dar es Salaam
Once you arrive, an Aardvark Safaris team member will meet you to take you to your 5-star hotel, The Serena Lodge. Here you can a late snack and enjoy a full night’s rest before starting your safari the next day.

Day 2: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve
After a fulfilling breakfast, you and your guides will take a short flight to Selous Game Reserve. You’ll enjoy your first game drive on your way to your new lodge, just in time for lunch. Your camp for the next 3 nights is exclusive & elegant, providing you with an exceptional experience.

Day 3- 4: Selous Game Reserve
With significant populations of African Elephants, Black Rhinos & Wild Dogs, your game drives will provide you with rare sightings, most people never get a chance to see. Selous also has some of the largest populations of Buffalo, Hippo & Nile Crocodile, not to mention over 350 recorded types of bird species, so your days will leave you satisfied & with a copious amount of species sightings.
In addition to game drives, there are options for boat excursions along the Rufigi River. Here you can take a visit to the hot springs or enjoy activities such as fishing, bush walks, sunset cruises & more.

Day 5: Selous Game Reserve – Ruaha National Park
After one last breakfast in Selous, you’ll take a short flight to Ruaha National Park. You’ll arrive to your lodge, Ruaha River Lodge, in time for a relaxing lunch. Your lodge is located right on the riverbank, allowing you to see wildlife coming in for a drink.

Day 6-7: Ruaha National Park
The lodge’s exotic location is in an area surrounded by an abundant number of wildlife including, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Hyena, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo & much more! The birding in Ruaha is simply spectacular as well; over 530 species of bird has been recorded here! Ruaha’s terrain changes from woodlands to savanna, so you’ll enjoy a busy couple of days exploring the park & all of its magnificent beauty it has to offer.

Day 8: Ruaha – Katavi
You’ll have an early start to the day as you board your morning flight from Ruaha to the remote & rarely visited park, Katavi. The Katuma River is an inviting water source to an abundant amount of wildlife, so predator-prey interactions may be seen here, along with huge flocks of water birds.
Overnight: Katuma Bush Lodge
Day 9-10: Katavi
Katavi is one of the largest & most productive ecosystems in East Africa. Its landscape is diverse offering sections of marshes, lakes, rivers, hot springs, waterfalls, woodlands, rugged hills & more! Your game drives here will be full of wildlife everywhere you look. Seeing other tourists & vehicles will be a rare sighting, so you may just have Katavi all to yourself when you visit!
Overnight: Katuma Bush Lodge
Day 11: Katavi – Mahale Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will take a short flight, followed by a 90-minute dhow boat cruise, to the Mahale Mountains National Park. This roadless park offers lush forests, sandy white beaches & rare wildlife that may not be seen in some of the more arid game parks. Here in this remote & stunningly beautiful park, you will find humanity’s closest living relative, the Chimpanzee.
Overnight: Kungwe Beach Lodge
Day 12-14: Mahale Mountains National Park
You will have 3 full days to explore the beauty of this park & to seek out some of the 900 residential Chimpanzees. Permits for chimpanzee trekking are carefully controlled, only allowing a small number of ecotourists to witness the chimpanzees at close proximity, at one time. The chimpanzee encounters can be life-changing events.
Overnight: Kungwe Beach Lodge
Day 15: Mahale – Dar es Salaam
After a once-in-a-lifetime trip, you will board your flight to return to Dar es Salaam, where you will catch your international flight this evening. An Aardvark Safaris team member will transfer you to the Dar es Salaam airport & help you with any last minute needs you might have.
Post-Safari Extension: Volunteer Service
